Evergreen Nursing Services is currently hiring casual Care Aides for an exceptionally unique and rewarding position working one-on-one with a private client in their newly renovated, fully equipped properties in both West Vancouver (Year-round) & Langley (Seasonal; summer).

We're hiring: A team of compassionate and reliable Care Aides who ideally have (1) experience in Spinal Cord Injury and/or Acute Care either in a hospital or rehabilitation center and/or (2) a strong interest in learning ventilator care. We are expanding a healthcare team to provide 24-hour in-home care for a client who sustained a high-level spinal cord injury in 2021. 

The client primarily lives in West Vancouver; however, lives part-time in Langley over the summer months (i.e. Wednesdays to Sundays). We are looking to create a team that consistently supports care in both or either location. Travel accommodations may be available if needed.

Roles Available (Days or Nights): 

• Casual Coverage (for sick/vacation coverage throughout the year)
• Part-time permanent positions with extended benefits may come available and would be offered to internal team members prior to posting externally 

*Day shifts are 10 hours (8:30 am to 6:30pm) and will be led by a 12-hour Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse

*Night shifts are 12 hours (8pm to 8am) and will be led by a 12-hour Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Job Summary (includes but not limited to):  

• Assist nurse with transfers, showering, personal care and other physical tasks
• Provide break relief to nurses throughout the day
• Provide emergency response support
• Assist with cleaning ventilator and medical equipment on a scheduled basis
• Perform light to moderate homemaking tasks
• Complete meal preparation for client and their partner
• Assist with feeding

Schedule: You choose! Shifts will be 10 to 12-hours day or night shifts. Enjoy the flexibility of our casual team and tell us WHEN you'd like to work, WHAT shifts you prefer and WHERE you'd like to work (Langley, West Vancouver or Both)!

Anticipated Start Date: As Soon As Possible 

Compensation: 

• CA Pay Scale: $26.00 to $30.00 per hour (DAYS); $27.50 to $31.50 per hour (NIGHTS), dependent on experience
• 5% of annual salary provided towards RRSP
• 5 paid sick days per calendar year
• 3 weeks vacation per year (for permanent positions; 6% for casuals)
• Statutory holiday pay

Paid Training Provided:

• Provincial Respiratory Outreach Program (PROP) 1/2 day online training
• 2 day in-person training on Ventilator and Trach care (with in-house trainer OR via PROP Training Program)
• 4 hours of Evergreen Orientation
• Buddy/Training Shifts with experienced RNs/LPNs

Applicant Requirements: 

• Internationally trained nurse or Certified Care Aide in Canada
• Ideally at least 2 years of experience as a Care Aide in Canada
• Strong english and meal preparation skills
• At least 2 strong professional references.
• Compassionate, collaborative and dedicated - can work independently and in a team
• Interest and experience in Spinal Cord Injury & Home Care is an asset
• Tracheostomy and ventilator experience is an asset
